The MMBP is an affiliate of the National Mountain Bike Patrol. Mountain bike patrollers are people who provide a volunteer service for the land management agencies that oversee their favorite trails. Whether they're in remote back country areas, or in urban parks, the MMBP has four major functions:

  • Help all trail users.
  • Provide service and support to the land managers.
  • Help preserve mountain biking trail opportunities.
  • Have fun!

From local knowledge to serious first aid, sharing sunscreen to repairing a bent derailleur, there's no limit to the amount of information and assistance mountain bike patrollers can provide. Midwest Mountain Bike patrollers must maintain basic first aid and CPR certification. They are competent in trailside bike repair such as fixing broken chains, flat tire repair, and brake and shifter adjustment. They know the local trails well and can explain the easiest way to back to the trailhead - or the longest, most challenging loop! We can also provide solid answers to questions like, "What are some good trails to ride around here?"

The best part about being a patroller is that you help out and give back while doing exactly what you like to do best - ride!

MMBP Mission Statement

The mission of the Midwest Mountain Bike Patrol is consistent with that of our parent organization the National Mountain Bike Patrol.

We are dedicated to maintaining and improving trail opportunities for the sport of mountain biking through the promotion, education, and support of local land management agencies. We are committed to providing local trail expertise, trail user etiquette, environmental concerns, mechanical assistance and first aid.
